August 2008Greetings, We'll skip the formalities this month as we have lots to tell you: first off, we just got back from the Outlook Festival in Croatia, and lots of fun was had by all! Expect photos and video from the festival to go up in cyberspace in the next couple of weeks. Speaking of video, check out the visual section to see the first in a series of collaborations between Paper Tiger and Leeds-based production team nosleepproduction. It's a mini-documentary featuring live performance and interview footage captured in our rehearsal basement- more on the way very soon...Meanwhile, have a look at the brand new Origami Sounds YouTube Channel! June 2008 - New Website!Welcome back everyone, Behold our brand new, shiny, sparkly website: we admit that we neglected it a little bit recently, but from now on it will serve as the quickest way to find out about all things that sound like Origami. If you're new to our organisation, feel free to explore; head over to our About section for more information about us and what we do, and be sure to check out the Downloads page for loads of top-quality, royalty-free music (you'll find them just to your left!). The last twelve months has seen some major achievements from our extended family: Fantastic Mr. Fox getting remixes released for people like Anticon's Son Lux, Mercury Prize-nominated Maps (and even charting with Just Jack!); Gentleman's Dub Club supporting scene heavyweights Iration Steppas, Benga, Mala and Zion Train as well as recording their debut album (slated for an Autumn release); Czar Muggers heading back to France for some more performances; Dubwise getting released on Marcus Intalex's label Soul:R; Vital's foray into t-shirt design and Paper Tiger slaying The Faversham (and Mary Anne Hobbs) with their live dubstep medley... click here to listen! Again, head to the About section to find out about all of these artists if you are unfamiliar with them. Also, since our last update the Origami Sounds family has been tearing up dancefloors locally and nationally; see the Live section for the latest dates, as well as the latest on Future Rhythm (our club night) and some full, uninterrupted live sets from Paper Tiger. But we're all about looking to the future, which is looking very bright indeed, so check back here regularly for updates and plenty of great music- sign up to the mailing list to be informed of the latest developments. |
